Our approach is secular and based on the latest scientific findings. We combine sound research with practical experience and offer a practice-oriented method that is free from religious or esoteric notions. Our approach is also pedagogically oriented:
We offer clear, easy-to-understand instructions and structures that enable everyone to pursue the path to mindfulness and meditation independently.
Our goal is to create a space where everyone can experience meditation and mindfulness in their essence – regardless of age, origin, worldview, or belief.
Meditation is pausing in the present moment – a practice that allows one to observe the flowing stream of thoughts and feelings in timeless stillness, without identifying with them. It's not about controlling or emptying the mind, but rather about creating space for the now, where the moment can unfold in its full presence.
Meditation at Meditas is the purest form of non-intentional meditation. Unlike goal-oriented meditations, it's about perceiving the moment without filters – free from expectations and desires for change. It is a practice of reduction, where the focus lies solely on presence in the moment. It's not about calming or emptying the mind, but about experiencing it clearly and openly in the present moment.
No belief in anything is necessary for meditation. It is an individual process of insight that involves being honest with oneself and the present moment, without manipulating it.
Through this attitude, one can experience different states of consciousness:
Conscious arrival in the moment,
Clarity and new insights,
The experience of pure being – free from the longing to "find something".
Non-intentional meditation means not getting lost in mental wish-constructs or fantasy stories. Instead, the moment is experienced as it is, without the mind intervening and creating "something else". The practice teaches to consciously embody the immediate present, which is neither explainable nor predictable.
In Basic Module 1, we teach our developed HALTE Meditation. These are five steps to attune and guide oneself at the beginning of meditation, thereby creating a framework in which a non-intentional attitude becomes possible.
Furthermore, we explain common techniques, such as focus centering, that allow one to perceive the present moment as it is.
At Meditas, no fantasy journeys or similar are guided – so it’s not about the mind having to imagine something, but rather about experiencing an unadulterated moment. For this, there are different methodical approaches that can be practiced and reflected upon – i.e., also categorized and understood – within the course setting.
