In our FAQ, you will find answers to the most common questions about our meditation courses, workshops, and retreats. Learn more about content, process, registration, and how you can discover the right practice for yourself.
Meditation does not replace medical or therapeutic intervention. It is not intended to process or resolve personal issues, but rather to cultivate awareness in the present moment. Through regular meditation, you can learn to live more mindfully and develop more clarity, serenity, and acceptance in everyday life.
In most cases, meditation can be valuable support in therapeutic processes, as it helps strengthen resilience and self-perception. If you are undergoing psychiatric or psychotherapeutic treatment, we recommend discussing the possibility of meditation with your therapist in advance. Additionally, it can be helpful to inform your Meditas meditation teacher about your situation to ensure that the practice is adapted to your needs.

At Meditas, it’s about conscious being – awake and without intention. A space is created where inner processes are perceived and the moment is accepted as it is. Meditation is a consciously chosen period in which all habitual actions and goals are suspended. This allows for presence in the here and now. It’s not about achieving a specific state, but rather about observing and accepting the experiences of the moment without judgment or distraction.
In Basic Module 1, various meditation postures are introduced and practiced. There is no “right” posture; each participant finds a position that suits them. The goal is to find a stable yet relaxed posture that supports the practice. In our studio, you can also meditate on a chair if that is the more comfortable option. During silent meditation, it is always possible to change your posture if it becomes too uncomfortable. Additionally, there are active forms of meditation that provide a beneficial complement to silent practice.
After registration, you will receive a detailed info email. This also explains the payment methods. For most offerings, you can either pay cash at the studio or conveniently via bank transfer.
No prior knowledge is required for the meditation courses. Just bring the willingness to engage in the practice of “being in the moment”. Everything you need is available in our studios. You can also purchase a meditation cushion for home at Meditas. Further tips for supporting your practice at home are provided in Basic Module 1.
At Meditas, non-intentional meditation is practiced and taught – it is an invitation to engage with the present moment without expectations.
Since 2011, Meditas has been creating offerings in the field of meditation and mindfulness, which, with an educational approach, create space for a culture of consciousness. The well-connected locations are in the heart of Vienna and in Northern Burgenland, ideally situated for retreat and meditation. Meditas specializes in scientifically based courses, retreats, and trainings – all meditation teachers are pedagogically trained and continuously undergoing further education.
Our offering is secular, meaning independent of esotericism or religious traditions, and invites people of all worldviews to experience meditation and mindfulness in their essence.
Meditation gives you moments for yourself – free from goals and expectations. It allows you to suspend goal-oriented action and experience the moment as it is. It’s not about achieving a specific state, but rather about recognizing expectations and observing yourself in the present.
Through radical ‘being in the moment’ and letting go of the need to achieve something, meditation also has a de-stressing effect. Even if you perceive your stress in the moment but don’t have to do anything about it, this unfolds an interesting state of being. This practice long-term strengthens your inner resilience and helps you deal with challenges more calmly.
The unit begins with a guided meditation, often introduced by breathing exercises. After this first meditation, a phase with new suggestions and input from the teacher follows. Subsequently, there is a discussion round where participants can share their experiences and ask questions. Another meditation concludes the session. In between, various meditation exercises are often tried out to deepen what has been learned and expand the practice.
No, if you already have meditation experience, you can directly join a higher-level course. It’s best to clarify in a conversation which course is ideal for you. Nevertheless, many participants who have been meditating for a longer time choose Basic Module 1 because they want to deepen theoretical and practical aspects from the ground up.
Meditas offers five progressive modules that gradually deepen various aspects of meditation. Basic Module 1 begins with fundamental techniques such as focus-centered meditation, and it precisely explains how meditation is defined. Module 2 focuses on mindfulness in meditation and everyday life – leading up to Module 5, which deals with the accepting attitude towards simultaneities and the practice of open awareness. Each module fosters specific skills and makes the learning process of meditation an experience of joy and depth. The modules build upon each other and enable continuous development of one’s own practice.
Yes, Modules 1 to 3 are offered both in-person and online. The online option offers a flexible way to integrate meditation into daily life. There is also the option to complete a course partly on-site and partly online. The courses include interactive live units (via Zoom) and access to a media library with practice recordings.
Our courses are free from religious or traditional content and are aimed at people of all backgrounds. They combine guided meditations with open discussion and individual guidance, so that all participants can set their own priorities. Meditas offers an undogmatic approach that does not aim to convince or instruct, but rather focuses on practice and personal experience.
Our courses are methodologically and didactically structured and are led exclusively by experienced and pedagogically trained meditation teachers.
Our modular courses are designed for adults and young people aged 16 and over, regardless of their prior knowledge, experience, or background. For children and younger adolescents, we offer specially designed courses and workshops.
The meditation courses are divided into five modules that gradually teach deepening meditation techniques. Basic Module 1 covers the fundamentals of focus-centered meditation, while Module 5 is geared towards the experience of silence and open awareness. The courses are suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners. Modules 1 to 3 are offered in a hybrid format, so you can complete them both on-site and online via Zoom.
That one “doesn’t think” in meditation or that an empty mind is a desirable state is a widespread myth. Meditation does not mean suppressing thoughts or compulsively becoming “calm”. Rather, it’s about consciously perceiving what is happening in the moment – be it thoughts, feelings, or physical sensations.
It’s not about getting rid of these experiences or achieving a specific state, but about encountering them openly and acceptingly. When one practices encountering everything in meditation with an open attitude and attributing less importance to things, a special lightness or simplicity in experience can sometimes arise – a state of being free from inner judgment or goals. However, that too is not a goal, but a natural consequence of conscious being. Meditation invites you to let everything be as it is, and that can feel like silence.
Modules 1-3 each comprise 5 units. Modules 4-5 each comprise four units. Basic Module 1 lasts 90 minutes per unit; from Module 2 onwards, it’s 75 minutes. The units usually take place weekly, and participants receive materials for home practice as well as handouts on the respective content. Additionally, all clients have access to downloadable MP3s with guided meditations to ensure the best possible support at home.

Women’s retreats create a space specifically tailored to the needs and experiences of women. In this supportive atmosphere, participants can engage in their meditation practice free from external distractions or societal stereotypes. The setting fosters trust, exchange, and a deep connection among participants. At the same time, it offers the opportunity to explore topics that are particularly relevant to women and may be less frequently focused on in mixed groups.
A Meditas retreat is an intensive, multi-day experience where participants dedicate themselves to the practice of meditation and mindfulness. In this protected atmosphere, everyday roles come to rest, creating space to immerse oneself in one’s pure being. Through this openness and mindfulness, a deeper connection to oneself and life itself often grows.
Meditation means conscious being – awake, present, and without intention. Our retreats offer a protected space to recognize inner processes and accept the moment in its entirety. Each retreat is accompanied by two experienced meditation teachers who ensure individual guidance. Through intensive practice and the space for exchange, a sustainable opportunity for introspection and self-knowledge emerges.
The duration of meditations varies between 10 and 40 minutes. The longest units consist of a combination of walking and sitting meditation: 20 minutes of mindful walking, followed by 20 minutes of silent sitting.
During sitting meditations, you can change your position at any time if silent sitting becomes uncomfortable. You will quickly find out which sitting posture allows you to remain relaxed and at ease – and we are happy to assist you with that.
Of course, you can also pause a meditation block and adjust to your individual needs. Being present is linked to flexibility and is therefore our priority.

Meditas retreats are open to everyone – regardless of prior experience. Whether you’re just starting your meditation practice or have been meditating for a long time, you are very welcome. A supportive, protected atmosphere is provided, where all participants receive individual guidance.
Our courses are structured methodically and didactically and are led exclusively by experienced and pedagogically trained meditation teachers.
A meditation retreat offers the opportunity to dedicate yourself to the topic of meditation and mindfulness without distraction, to take a break from everyday life, and to create space for self-discovery. It is often easier in a non-everyday environment to perceive silence, reflect on yourself, and potentially develop new perspectives. In a retreat, everyday roles can settle down, creating space to experience your pure being and build a deeper connection with yourself. It is a valuable opportunity for mental relaxation, stress reduction, and fostering personal development.
During a retreat, meditation practice can be started or intensified. Through longer meditation periods and self-observation, the perception of thoughts, feelings, and reactions is refined. The focus is on immediate experience and letting go of fixed ideas, which promotes self-discovery. The times between meditations are also spent with introspection and mindfulness or conscious exchange with like-minded people.
At every retreat, there is also the option for vegan or vegetarian organic full board, so you are fully catered for.
Since pedagogical guidance is important to us during the retreats, we do not organize silent retreats. We believe that understanding meditative processes and experiences is also a human need and promotes meditative development. That’s why our retreats are also didactically structured.
However, during designated “silent” phases, it is recommended to refrain from conversations to deepen the meditative practice. Outside these phases, there are opportunities for exchange with the teachers and other participants. Silence is generally maintained in the meditation room. Exceptions are meditative impulses and exchanges provided for in the official retreat schedule.
Meals are also taken in silence. This way, the practice of mindfulness can also be lived in daily retreat life. Outside of meal times, speaking is permitted at any time in the garden and common rooms.
Meditation and mindfulness promote the mental and physical health of employees and strengthen their stress management skills. They enable a more conscious approach to challenges, support resilience, and help to remain effective and clear-headed even in demanding situations. Your company benefits from motivated, creative, and focused employees, while stress-related absences and burnout risks are sustainably reduced.
Leaders who regularly meditate develop more clarity, emotional stability, and self-regulation. They can make more conscious decisions, communicate more effectively, and lead with more empathy. This creates a trusting company culture and fosters positive team dynamics.
In all our formats, we teach practical techniques that your employees can effortlessly integrate into their daily (work) lives. This way, meditation and mindfulness are not perceived as an additional appointment, but as a natural part of your company culture.
We offer individually tailored programs – from one-time workshops and regular meditation sessions to individual coaching for leaders. Whether weekly group courses or customized programs for stress management and leadership development – we flexibly adapt our concept to your time resources and seamlessly integrate it into your daily work life.
Yes, our meditations are accessible to everyone – regardless of experience or personal beliefs. We teach an aimless and secular meditation practice: This means it is free from religious or dogmatic content and creates no pressure to perform. Instead of working towards a specific goal, it’s about consciously perceiving the present moment. This creates a natural inner calm, which ultimately leads to more serenity, clarity, and resilience in daily work life.
Meditation is a formal practice in which active doing is consciously paused for a certain period. This pause creates space for inner centering, conscious self-perception, and mental clarity.
Mindfulness, on the other hand, is an everyday integrated practice that focuses on consciously perceiving the present moment – whether in conversation, during a task, or in interaction with others.
Both approaches complement each other ideally and long-term foster resilience and a clear, focused mind.
Secular means worldly or non-religious. Our mindfulness trainings and meditation offerings are designed to be secular, meaning they are free from religious or traditional content and rules. This makes them suitable and accessible for students of all faiths and cultural backgrounds.
Our programs are specifically tailored to the age and needs of children and teenagers. The younger the participants, the more playful we make the program. We consider children’s natural urge to move and create a harmonious interplay between stillness and movement.
In our sessions, we show children and teenagers how to engage with the “here now” and integrate what they experience into their daily lives. They experience a beneficial break from the constant “musts shoulds” and are allowed to perceive the world as it is and discover it with all their senses. Our programs offer them the opportunity to simply be and enjoy the moment.
Mindfulness training helps children observe their feelings and perceive themselves better. This can reduce stress and anxiety while promoting their openness and freedom in thought and action. Through practice, children develop greater resilience and become less susceptible to negative influences from media or their social environment. Additionally, their ability to direct their attention and be creative improves.
Children are often enthusiastic about mindfulness training. They learn to explore their own perceptions and feelings, which aligns with their natural curiosity and urge to explore. Children and teenagers find it particularly beneficial that mindfulness exercises are not about judging or comparing.
Aimless meditation is a form of meditation where no specific goal is pursued, such as relaxation or stress reduction. Instead, it’s about experiencing the present moment without judgment or goal-setting. This form of meditation helps children and adults develop a deeper self-awareness and acceptance. This is particularly valuable in an educational context, as true self-perception only becomes possible through an aimless attitude. This openness promotes the development of a culture of error and supports problem-solving skills. Children and teachers learn to better understand and accept themselves and their reactions, which contributes to a more positive learning and teaching atmosphere.
The idea arose from the observation that many children suffer from stress and emotional burdens already at elementary school age. Studies show that mindfulness practice helps against anxiety, stress, and depression and promotes overall well-being. These findings led to more and more educational institutions wanting to integrate mindfulness into their curriculum to better support students. We have been offering courses for children and teenagers at Meditas for many years. As a result, we also received increased inquiries from schools and socio-pedagogical institutions. After receiving great feedback regarding the sustainability of our offerings, we also want to proactively approach schools and draw attention to the topic of mindfulness.
We recommend starting mindfulness training from elementary school age.
For younger children, we design the training playfully and varied, often with active forms, to utilize their natural curiosity and energy. When children enter puberty, a phase of life with many changes and challenges, mindfulness becomes a particularly valuable anchor. During this time, connecting with oneself and the ability to find inner calm can be crucial. We specifically adapt our exercises to the needs and developmental stages of teenagers to help them best navigate this important phase of life.

It offers a flexible approach that is tailored to your personal needs, challenges, and individual questions. In addition, the individual training offers the opportunity to clarify open questions about one’s own meditation practice and reflect on personal experiences in a protected setting.

Yes, in addition to developing a stable meditation practice, the training can also serve personal development. In doing so, recurring thoughts, emotions, or identifications are reflected upon to promote an integrative approach to challenges.
A central aspect is allowing things to be – instead of fighting against inner processes, a conscious approach to resistances is cultivated. In addition, the training helps to recognize rigid thought patterns, mindfully question them, and thereby develop more inner flexibility and clarity.
The self-experience of pure being can thus positively influence everyday experience and lead to more serenity, presence, and inner freedom.
There is an opportunity for a free 15-minute introductory call, where individual expectations, goals, and possibilities are discussed. A session lasts 50 minutes and always begins with a brief clarification of the process as well as current wishes and concerns.
There are two options:
The goal is to sustainably integrate meditation into your life and develop an individually suitable practice.
That depends entirely on your individual needs and current situation. Some use the training regularly to continuously build and deepen their meditation practice, while others utilize individual sessions to reflect on specific questions or challenges from a meditative perspective.
The training is flexibly designed and can be adapted to optimally support you in your process.
