About Us

2011 Gründung und Start Konzert-Reihe, 2012 Entwicklung Modulsystem der Meditationskurse, 2025 Retreats und Kinderkurse, 2019 Start Ausbildungen, 2020 Online-Angebote

Since 2011, Meditas has been guiding people on their personal journey to integrate non-intentional meditation into their lives.

In 2011, we started with a meditative concert series, which soon became the foundation for our module system. Many concertgoers expressed a desire to learn meditation from the ground up.

This led to Module 1 and 2 – and soon after, meditation retreats, further modules, and finally, in 2019, the first training course for meditation leaders. In 2020, due to the Corona pandemic, online expansion was added – interactive online meditation evenings, the OnlineCircle, and the possibility to practice daily guided meditations in our video library with MediDaily.

"Meditation is a smiling lingering in the living coming and going of the moment."

Mag.ª Mona
Schramke

Head of Meditas

I am a meditation teacher, educator, and life and social counselor. At Meditas, I teach Modules 1-4, provide individual training, and lead retreats and training groups. I have been meditating for over 18 years, and after exploring various Buddhist meditation techniques, I discovered a secular scientific-philosophical meditation practice for myself.

“A state of consciousness in which I realize that my surroundings do not want me to change, I recognize myself and let myself be as I am. I also call it stillness.”

Meditas was founded in 2011 out of my unsuccessful search for a secular place in Vienna for meditators. Due to my pedagogical background and my passion for methodology, the idea soon emerged to develop meditation courses with a modern and pedagogical approach, and so I founded Meditas together with Alexander.

My Qualifications:
  • Studies in Pedagogy and Communication Sciences
  • Certified Life and Social Counselor
  • Acting Studies
  • State-certified Dance Educator
  • regular further training at international conferences (Meditation & Science, Mental Strength, Talking is Not Enough, etc.)

About me…

“City-Country-River – was not only one of my favorite games in my childhood but already an important part of my life back then. I was born in Vienna in 1980, but mostly grew up in Burgenland. The lively farm activities – the intense contact with earth, plants, and animals, the consistent work around straw, horses, and tractors, many hands collectively achieving great things – gave me a down-to-earth foundation. In hours of quiet, I could marvel at the hidden forms and colors of nature – the delicate pollen of a blade of grass, diligent swallows whose song introduced me to the world of sound, and wild, hairy caterpillars whose slowness and courage for metamorphosis conveyed an indescribable sense of wholeness. Early on, I was led to the limits of human existence – questions with mortal answers arose.

Vienna – the big city as an apparent opposite – was for me a pool where, following my fascination with human communication and group processes, I learned to swim scientifically. I accompanied my studies in pedagogy and communication sciences with dancing and teaching. Dance itself opened up possibilities for me to experiment with phenomena. What remains impressive to me to this day is this: consciously bringing one’s own body out of balance initiates an unforeseen flow of movement, which in turn leads to balance – complex yet simple.

My interest continued to revolve around people and their power of expression, and so acting studies gave me breath and voice, allowed me to let loose in the realm of emotions, only to finally find peace again – thus I discovered the path of presence and meditation.

The river – it constantly flows downstream with great force. And yet, if you look closely, you can see that the water near the banks also flows upstream. Full of curiosity, I follow the river of life, learn about myself daily, and let myself be moved.

In those moments when I feel like I’m flowing in the wrong direction, I remember the phenomenon of currents. And if the river flows too rapidly, I cast the anchor of “meditation.”

Besides Meditas, I work as a lecturer in adult education, in training, and in private practice as a life and social counselor and supervisor (more info).

For me, Meditas stands for the encounter of people with themselves and others, is a sacred space for arrival and self-discovery, as well as a place of stillness and serenity – ultimately, the art of living.”

“… a smile that surges hidden in moments, gently looks up and watches while listening.”

I have been shaped by recurring situations in which awe-filled experience of present events occurred unintentionally. For example, in spontaneous encounters with animals above and below water, in sports, or in conversations that related to the moment. Unnameable insights into the world around me were discernible in these immediate moments of presence. The fact that these moments did not demand reflection, even though the unpredictable and unstable were at the forefront, always seemed interesting to me.

Relationships with people and animals were groundbreaking, inviting the experience of aliveness. Encounters with plants, which again seem to speak their own language – somehow out of time – were also inspiring. Through many professional stages, my path led to the study of psychotherapy, where science and intuition dared to meet and altered states of consciousness became explainable. Through intensive engagement with hypnotic trance, mental training, and meditation, clarity in distinguishing these diverse paths has emerged for me.

Personally, I follow a path where I eat vegetarian and practice conscious movement, breathing, and meditation. I experience enthusiastic joy with the sounds of sensitively played instruments or sung voices. For me, meditation is a path into presence, into the depth and vastness of spatial stillness. A state of consciousness in which constant impermanence can be observed in open awareness.

For me (and Meditas), meditation is an undogmatic, secular – meaning not bound by creeds or religions – path of consciousness. For me, it’s not about following the ideas or rules of a specific person (who would know how things work) or being guided by hopeful promises. Rather, it’s about experiencing the own inner spiritual state of knowledge, the pure perception of what IS, and thereby recognizing mental and personal autonomy.

I find words of clarity and inspiration from Thomas Metzinger, Alexander Poraj, Theo Fischer, Doris Zölls, and Jean Baudrillard, as well as in Taoist writings such as the Tao Te Ching.

“…grounding and connection with simultaneous lightness. A hold in the fast pace of everyday life with letting go. A look inward, with a focus on intuition, the natural path that, in my opinion, every person carries within themselves.”

I first completed training in elementary education and then studied communication and political sciences, as well as philosophy. My specialization was in marketing and public relations, with my focus increasingly shifting to Gender Equality. I continue to work part-time in this area at TU Wien. Additionally, I acquired trainer training and completed the meditation and mindfulness teacher training at Meditas.

Since my youth, I have intensively engaged not only with communication but also with the question of being human and existence – with observing and understanding the world within and around me. The exploration of polarities is also of central importance to me. I am particularly fascinated by nature, as its self-evidence brings me closer to the cycles of life.

Art attracts me because it encompasses “everything,” accepts no exclusion, and allows much room for interpretation.

I increasingly and consciously turned to the topic of meditation and mindfulness until I finally decided to share the “power of silence” with others and accompany them in consciously being present. I guide people in delving deeply into the topic of secular meditation and making it an experience for themselves.

Head of Marketing and Social Media

I came into contact with mindfulness early on. At Meditas, I support in marketing, social media, and project management.

“The conscious decision that it is enough to simply be here.”

Meditation has accompanied me for as long as I can remember. I came into contact with it through my family already in my childhood.

I have known Meditas since its very beginning. I had the opportunity to witness its development.

I vividly remember the first concert series – I was still a teenager back then. I took care of the well-being of the participants and kept a handwritten guestbook… back then, completely without Instagram. 😊

My pedagogical training in elementary education and my professional experience have deepened my interest in human existence. Again and again, I encounter the same patterns, dynamics, and challenges – but the power of presence, the pure turning towards, the simple being – I experienced that as valuable early on.

Today, I support Meditas in many areas – especially in marketing, social media, and project management.

Currently, I am studying business administration and started my own meditation teacher training in autumn 2024. I also accompany Anna in meditation workshops at schools.

I look forward to inspiring more and more people with non-intentional meditation – and opening spaces where we are simply allowed to be.

Mag.ª Christine Hudetz, MA

"For me, meditation means pausing for a moment, letting go of all obligations, shoulds, and wants, and listening to the pure being of silence in harmony."

The joy of the present moment has accompanied me since my youth. After studying communication science, business administration, and economic psychology, I found my way to formal meditation practice in 2018. Insights from my training in Psychological Coaching & Training still flow into my work today and enrich my perspective on the practice. Shortly after beginning my meditation experience, my path led me to Meditas – first as a participant, later in the training to become a certified meditation teacher in 2023–2024. Today, at Meditas, I lead guided meditations, courses, and mindfulness sessions, both in German and English.

Daniel Schraik

"Sometimes you need a break from everyday life - a moment of stillness to consciously perceive what is happening within me. Through my senses, I discover all the things that are always present but often remain in the background."

My journey into the world of meditation began about 12 years ago, and I soon felt what a valuable enrichment this experience was for my life. About two years ago, I decided to share the knowledge and experiences I had gained over these 12 years with other people, like you. In 2023, I finally started and successfully completed my training as a meditation teacher at Meditas.

Angela Meierschitz

"For me, meditation means connecting with myself - in a benevolent and friendly way. Simply being, with what I am currently perceiving."

I have been guiding people in bodywork for many years and have expanded my path to include the practice of meditation. For me, meditation means spending mindful time with myself, encountering what is present. It is a journey of discovery for me that opens up familiar horizons and makes new possibilities tangible. As a meditation and mindfulness teacher at Meditas, I am happy to accompany you into the present moment.

All our offerings are methodologically-didactically structured and are led exclusively by experienced and pedagogically trained meditation teachers.
